When asked in an interview what our one key to success is and why, our General Manager Margie Hooper explained that it’s our culture.
“When people come together to have a training... there’s always the sense that they’re not alone in the business. We have a social committee that were very proud of where people come together after work on a Friday at a certain place….”

Here at KW Ottawa, we take great pride in our culture, and there are many things we do to keep our culture a positive one.
For example, all of our management and support staff have an open door policy. We also have an afterhour’s hotline that REALTORS® can refer to when they have questions. Our in office lounge areas and communal computers help create a mastermind environment where we promote the sharing of best practices. We also have daily lunch and learns where our agents can come to learn about specific topic. Some sessions are taught by our own REALTORS® and other times we invite guest speakers.
We also have our Agent Leadership Committee (ALC) which is divided into 4 parts; social, growth, technology and trainings. The ALC meet monthly and bring forward ideas from the other agents and vote on Brokerage matters to ensure that the opinions of all the agents are well represented and included in corporate decisions.
But it’s not all work no play here at KW Ottawa! We also take great pride in our events and social activities- which we hold at least twice monthly. Whether it’s choosing a location to meet after work for some drinks, snack and mingling or larger events such as our Christmas party, curling bonspiel or golf tournament, its sure to be a good time and we encourage all of our agents and staff to attend.
Moreover, through our ALC, we started a KW Ottawa Cares Committee which is a vehicle to give back to local and international charities. It has grown and matured over time by adding “Family Matters” and “Agent Driven Charity” initiatives. The start of the “Foundation for Giving” (F4G) is an important milestone for KW Ottawa coincidentally during our 10th Anniversary. The “Foundation for Giving” gives purpose and significance corporately for what we do. Good businesses make a profit. Great businesses make a profit and give back in a meaningful way. We are building a great business!
