Beacon Hill is an east end neighbourhood that used to be a part of the city of Gloucester until it became part of the city of Ottawa in 2001. Beacon Hill is divided into two parts; Beacon Hill north and south, and is divided by Montreal Road. Its neighbourhood limits stretch east to the Greenbelt, south to the Highway 174 and west to Cardinal Heights/ Rothwell Heights.
Beacon Hill received its name from a light house in the Ottawa River. The lighthouse is no longer used but you can still see its remainders off the bike path. There is also a secret hill, referred to by the locals as ‘seeks’ and a municipal park called Ski Hill Park or more commonly known to locals as ‘Zellers Hill’.
Popular restaurants in Beacon Hill Include Chahaya Malaysia, Hung Fatt, King’s Palace, Lunergan’s Pub and Nicky’s Pizza.
In 2015, the average sale price in Beacon Hill was $335,976 with 163 units being sold. This was a slight decrease from the 2014 average sale price of $336,879, however in 2014 there were only 156 units sold.
